Design & Construction

Typical construction

Typical construction uses rectangular aluminium hollow sections in vertical and horizontal patterns; ceiling also uses the same profiles. Common profile sizes: 25×50mm, 40×40mm, 60×40mm, and in rare cases 75×38mm or 100×50mm. Profiles are installed with gaps equal to the profile depth (for example 25mm profile → 25mm gap). One side can span up to 16 ft without additional iron framing; for larger spans, pillars are recommended every 12 ft. Installation is typically system-fitting with clamps, nut & bolts and concealed GI/SS connectors.

Key features

  • Material: Extruded aluminium hollow profiles (standard wall thickness 1.2mm).
  • Profiles: Common sections — 25×25, 25×50, 40×40, 75×38, 100×50 mm; custom sections available on request.
  • Finishes: Powder coated plain, texture and premium wood-look finishes.
  • Sealing: EPDM & silicone gaskets for waterproofing and noise reduction at all joints.
  • Load & spans: Spans up to 16 ft without iron frame; pillars recommended every 12 ft for larger spans.
  • Cover options: Solid glass or polycarbonate coverings available for weather protection.

Load Bearing & Structural Considerations — Profile Pergola

Profile gap ruleGap between louvers equals profile depth (e.g. 25mm profile → 25mm gap; 50mm profile → 50mm gap)
Max unsupported span16 ft on one side without iron framing; other side unlimited with pillar support every 12 ft
Pillar sections100×100 mm pipes (standard 4 pillars); increase to 125×125 mm for taller or wider installations
Base plateFoundation plate welded to 100×100 mm pillar bottom; secured with M16 anchor bolts into concrete
Outer frameOptional outer structure using 100×50 mm profiles at ₹350/sqft; connects all louvers into rigid frame
Connection hardwareConcealed GI/SS connectors, clamping nut-bolts, EPDM gaskets at all joints
Standard profile lengths12 ft and 16 ft (factory stock); optimal cutting with minimum wastage; wastage charged at ₹350/kg
Back supportAngles or threaded rods perpendicular to louvers, installed every 1 m; weight ≈ 0.100 kg/RFT
180° Joint connectorsRequired when louver run exceeds standard length; wood-finish connectors ≈ 0.250 kg/pc, aluminium ≈ 0.100 kg/pc
Wind upliftFixed louvers inherently allow wind pass-through; closed profiles with glazing require IS 875 (Part 3) check
Dead load (approx)25×50mm profile ≈ 0.71 kg/sqft; 40×40mm ≈ 0.86 kg/sqft; 100×50mm ≈ 1.27 kg/sqft (with 15% uplift)

All pillar counts, profile sizing and foundation details must be confirmed by a structural engineer per site conditions, roof weight and local wind codes.

Frequently Asked Questions — Aluminium Profile Pergola Cost, Profiles & Installation

Q: What wall thickness is standard for aluminium pergola profiles?A: Standard wall thickness is 1.2mm for most hollow aluminium profiles. For heavier duty applications we recommend 1.5mm or 2.0mm walls; selecting thicker walls increases profile weight and material cost proportionally.
Q: How is material wastage calculated in the price?A: Aluminium profiles come in standard 12 ft and 16 ft lengths. Our calculator picks the best combination to minimise cutting waste. Any unavoidable wastage is charged at ₹350/kg and shown separately in the summary, so you always know the exact cost.
Q: Can I install glass or polycarbonate on top?A: Yes. We support 10mm and 12mm toughened glass infills as well as 3mm solid and 12mm hollow polycarbonate sheets. All glazing uses EPDM seals and stainless fixings for durability and watertight installation.
Q: How many pillars does a typical pergola require?A: 0–20 as per need. Wall or concrete-attached sides reduce pillars (0–2 common for 1–3 sides attached). Fully freestanding typically uses 4+; pillars every ~12 ft on longer spans.
Q: How long does installation take?A: Typical installation for a standard 10×8 ft profile pergola takes 1–2 days (site prep, pillars & fixing), larger custom installations take longer depending on foundation and finishes.
Q: What maintenance is required?A: Minimal: periodic cleaning, check and tighten fasteners annually, and touch-up powder-coated finishes as necessary. EPDM seals may need inspection after several years.
Q: Do you provide a warranty?A: Yes — standard warranty covers manufacturing defects on aluminium profiles and powder-coating. Contact us for full warranty terms tailored to your project.

Applications — Where Profile Pergola Works Best

Why Aluminium Profile Pergola Over Wooden or Adjustable Louvers

Aluminium profile pergolas offer the same visual warmth as wooden louvers without the risk of termites, warping or regular re-painting. Fixed louvers are simpler and more cost-effective than motorized adjustable systems — ideal when the goal is permanent shade with a refined architectural look. Powder-coated aluminium profiles provide 15–20 years of maintenance-free life and are fully recyclable, making them the most sustainable choice for outdoor structures.

All structural sizing considers local wind load factors per Indian building norms. Engineering drawings and profile load calculations are provided on request.

Installation Areas — Profile Pergola

We install profile pergolas in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and across India. In Hyderabad, terrace heat and outdoor dining need shade plus ventilation. In Bangalore, rain and garden terraces require rain-proof louvers and garden pergola designs. In Mumbai, small terraces and humidity suit compact fixed-louver systems and rust-resistant frames. In Chennai, sun and coastal conditions need corrosion-resistant sun-shade systems. Site survey in Hyderabad; pan-India fabrication and installation. WhatsApp or call for quote.
